Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — A former Las Cruces police officer has been granted a new trial due to juror substitutions and alleged bias. Brad Lunsford was convicted of manslaughter earlier this year. Lunsford’s attorney argued that juror substitutions and anti police bias led to an unfair trial. The case goes back to 2022 when Lunsford shot and killed Presley Eze, who was accused of stealing a beer at a gas station in Las Cruces. The attorney general’s office says they plan to appeal the decision. No date has been set for a new trial.
