Alamogordo, NM — A police investigation is underway after human remains were discovered Wednesday morning near the 1400 block of U.S. Highway 70 in Alamogordo.
Officers from the Alamogordo Police Department responded to the scene, where the remains were confirmed to be human by both the department’s investigations division and the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau Crime Scene Team.
The remains have been transferred to the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator, which will conduct an autopsy to determine identity and cause of death.
Authorities have not released any additional details, and it remains unclear whether the remains are connected to any ongoing missing persons cases. The investigation is active and ongoing.
