Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The city states that a 10% reduction in speed can reduce significant crashes by up to 19%, and reduce fatal crashes by 34%. To that effect the city will be installing eight new speed cameras, bringing the total number up to 28. The new ones are scheduled to be placed at: Central, between Louisiana and San Pedro, both eastbound and westbound, Lead near Bryn Mawr, Coors, north of St. Joseph – both northbound and southbound, Eubank, south of Montgomery, Tramway -south of Lomas, and Carlisle near Delamar. Report data has shown significant changes in driver behavior with both average speed, and number of drivers speeding decreasing after camera installations.
