Great News! Kandy was adopted last Saturday afternoon and Gwennie was adopted Wednesday.
We have two playful, young, playful, outgoing friendly dogs to feature today. They also have very pretty brindle coats, one light….one dark. They also are the very best of friends in our doggie play groups. A volunteer commented that they looked yin and yang, light and dark equally matched. Looking for two new companions? Here is a ready made duo just for you.
Flower (ID# A 1730590) is a 2 year old, female golden brindle & white American Pit Bull Terrier mix. She weighs 51 pounds. She is as lovely as her name. She has a soft face, softer fur and a very pretty golden slightly rosy colored brindle coat and gold eyes. Flower sits politely at her kennel door watching the people walk by until it is her turn to come out for a walk, play time or individual affection. She is pretty good on leash. With daily practice she will be perfect. She loves to take walks. She is affectionate and enjoys giving affection. Flower came in a stray to our Westside. Since we get more foot traffic at the Eastside she was transferred. Very quickly we learned what a great dog she is. She came to play group with a few friends that were also transferred and she made new friends at the Eastside. She had a grand time in play group. She is a bit on the rowdy side but had very nice doggie play and social skills. Dogs with this good behavior we classify as play group greeters because other dogs are very comfortable with them. Dogs like Flower can accommodate play level and match the other dogs. If you have a playful fairly energetic dog at home that needs a friend we would love to help you with a meet and greet. Flower should do well at a dog park unless there only very light players. Flower would be a perfect hiking or jogging partner too. Best friend and play mate to children 12 over….you bet. After a bit of play or exercise Flower expresses her softer side. Whether nuzzling softly with her buddies or with her human friends. This great companion would love to have her very own parent or family to welcome home. You will find Flower in our first building A at the Eastside shelter.
Humberto (ID# A 1731480) is a 1 year & 2 month old, male mahogany brindle & white American Pit Bull Terrier mix. He is a very handsome taller boy weighing 59 pounds. Humberto was living at our Westside shelter , and recently adopted….. for a day! He was surrendered at our Eastside because “it was not a good fit”. This boy is pretty much what you see is what you get. For most companions 24 hours is not long enough for him/her to bond with family, relax or acclimate enough to feel at home. Two weeks is the average time it takes and sometimes a little longer. It is not at all uncommon for a pet to not eat when they go home. Come on in to meet Humberto! You will find he is well behaved waiting patiently at his kennel door or resting in his bed. When he is taken out you will notice he has a puppyish nature. Like playful boys can do he jumps up a bit with excitement occasionally playfully grabbing his leash. But, he listens very well and is attentively watching you. His eagerness to please makes for easy training. Just ask him to sit. He knows this command very well and he quickly responds. Bring him to the free training class that comes with every adoption. With just a bit of daily practice he will be a champ and easy walking partner. Humberto really enjoys our doggie play groups. He is a bit on the rowdy side and looks like that gangly puppy getting used to his long legs. He loves to run and play chase. He has several best play buddies and would love to meet your companion if you are looking for two. He enjoys taking walks and could be a hiking or jogging partner too. He has a gorgeous dark reddish brown brindle coat that gleams and a very cute smile that looks much like a boxer. Humberto’s temperament test rated the highest-Good! He is dog friendly, always ready to play and family friendly. Due to his size and being an active young dog we suggest children 5 and over. Even though his last family was ill prepared to welcome him into their home, Humberto is eager to join his forever family just in time for warmer weather and longer days filled with fun and lots of love. You will find our beloved Humberto in the first building at our Eastside shelter.
