Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –New Mexico health officials are warning state lawmakers about the looming impact of President Trump’s sweeping federal tax bill. Health Care Authority Secretary Kari Armijo told members of a legislative panel that six to eight rural New Mexico hospitals could close over the next several years due to the bill’s Medicaid changes. Adding, that projections show nearly 90,000 New Mexico residents could lose health care coverage under the federal bill, while more than 250,000 state residents could face new co-pays and increased administrative hurdles to remain enrolled.
