Little Max featured with his brother Frankie two weeks ago went home last weekend. Holbrook and Jackie featured last weekend are hopeful they will find the force of good and find a forever home during our Star Wars Adoption event Saturday 1/16. PAWS CROSSED!!
Fastino (ID# A 1725878) is a 3 year old, male brindle & white American Pit Bull Terrier mix. This compact boy weighs 41 pounds. He is a loyal member of our Pit Bull Ambassador Team. He has an energetic side and a gentler very affectionate side-he loves to give kisses. He knows the cue for sit and is learning to focus very well for wait, stay and down. After practicing his skills he loves the reward of playing with his person and a tug toy or his favorite piggy toy that his volunteer trainer purchased for him. He has a hard time in the kennel and who wouldn’t after being in our shelter since mid September. When you come to meet him please take the time to meet him out of the kennel. He is a completely different dog. Prior to coming into our care Fastino may not have had much opportunity to socialize with other dogs so we would be happy to conduct a meet and greet between Fastino and your present companion. Fastino had his picture taken with a Star Wars Storm Trooper and his picture is great, one of the best! He has tilted his head to the side showing his endless curiosity. Fastino is in our first building at the Eastside shelter.
Sheba (ID# A 1731412) is a very young 14 year old, female black & white Italian Greyhound mix. This tiny gal weighs only 8 pounds.
Like many tiny little dogs she can be timid in her kennel with all the hustle, bustle and kennel noise. Being a tiny black girl curled up quietly in her bed she is often missed. Those of us that have met and worked with Sheba know she is a real sweetie. She loves to be with people. She walks well on leash and always takes care of business right away. She enjoys nice easy walks and lap time. She attends small dog playgroup and the ladies said she was initially a bit scared but warmed up in seconds especially with the people. She was fine with the other dogs. In fact our staff is using her as a helper dog for safer tests for little dogs. It is hard to believe she is 14! She is curious, happy and gets around great. She loves her lap time so much that sometimes does not want to give it up to another dog. She will be a delight for a family or mature person looking for a constant companion. If you have another dog we are always happy to help with a meet and greet to ensure the home will be harmonious. She had a very cute picture taken with a Star Wars Storm Trooper. Come to the Eastside to meet Sheba, your perfect tiny companion.
Star Wars Pets Have Arrived
The Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department says Star Wars pets have arrived and are ready for adoption. The event will take place at all City shelters, Saturday, January 16.
The force is strong in these lovable furry creatures. Let the Force awaken within you. It’s a Force that can’t be beat. Much like Luke – these pets are just looking for their fathers. Let it in and adopt a Star Wars pet.
These shelter pets are perfectly willing to travel to a galaxy far, far away if it means gliding into their forever homes. The city shelter empire is chock-full of cute furry things: Ewoks, Chewbacca, and now fur babies who want to hear you say, “Kitty, I am your father!”
Select a unique companion for an adoption fee of only $10 for pets 6 months or older. Along with a dog adoption Animal Welfare is providing one day of free Jedi basic dog training.
Star Wars fans can come to the Eastside shelter from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to take a photo with their favorite Star Wars character. The photos will be done by WinstonFoto.com, and the 501st Legion will be in Star Wars costumes. There will be drawings to win items from Petco and one free nail trimming coupon with every adoption from Groomingdales Pet Spa.
