Ferguson, MO
The unrest in Ferguson, MO has accomplished just what it intended to do, become a media event. Since August 9, protesters have disrupted, looted and put the public safety at risk. For what reasons, could it be the civil rights movement never made it to Ferguson? Would this lashing out by the people of Ferguson still be going on if the media left? At this juncture all the points have been made, and I feel most of the protesters are now just showing off for the cameras. If this unrest has accomplished anything, it is to show us how much of a tinder box we still live in and how race, economics and authority are still lightning rod issues that we will never escape. Watching the coverage on television of the Ferguson issues its hard to realize this isn't another country or our own country decades ago, this is America in 2014.
