SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) Santa Fe is temporarily sidelining its speed-enforcement SUVs pending agreement on a new contract with the company that provides the equipment and ticket processing.
Police spokeswoman Celina Westervelt says it could take up to a month before the vehicles are back at work on the northern New Mexico city's streets.
Santa Fe started the speed-enforcement program in 2009 and now has three of the vehicles.
Westervelt says the city is evaluating the effectiveness of the camera vehicles while working on contract negotiations but that it's likely the contract will be renewed.
