Increase in student fees

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — University of New Mexico students are going to be paying more so that Lobos athletics can compete on par with other schools. The Board of Regents approved a two-step increase in student fees, with the money going directly to the Athletic Department. The increase is $45 in the upcoming semester, doubling for a total of $90 for athletics. Another $60 will be added in two years for a total of a $120 in athletic fees per semester. President Garnett Stokes supports the hikes, saying UNM has suffered for not investing enough in athletics.
