Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Pay raises are coming to more than 20 employees as Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is in her final months as NM’s governor. The Albuquerque Journal is reporting that pay raises range from 1% to 16% and will come to some state workers in July. In a statement released Monday the Governor’s spokesperson says the Governor feels it’s important to reward the commitment of staffers who work under “intense demands” and are constantly on call. The raises did not sit well with The President of the Communications Workers of America Local 7076, Megan Green said most rank and file state workers cannot ask for merit-based salary hikes and the union has to beg for a raise each year. The governor doled out similar pay raises last year, after her re-election campaign in 2022 and during the covid pandemic.
