Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – A fire broke out early Tuesday morning at a healthcare center serving people experiencing homelessness in central Albuquerque.
Firefighters were called to Healthcare for the Homeless at 1217 1st Street Northwest near Mountain Rd and Lomas Blvd around 3 a.m. Crews arrived to find a working fire in a second-story attic space and began suppression efforts. Albuquerque Fire Rescue says the fire was brought under control within 20 minutes of their arrival.
Damage to the building was primarily limited to the attic space and the front office area. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, though fire officials say it appears to have originated outside the building.
