Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – PNM customers will be seeing a significant increase to their electric bill starting this month.
The increase will be around $6.23 more a month to a customers bill according to the state Public Regulation Commission.
The PRC says the new rate is necessary to ensure the state electric system remains reliable and ready for future energy needs.
The additional funding will support tree trimming and advancing technology to reduce fire risks. Replace older equipment as the state moves toward 100% clean energy. Large battery projects to store power and help reduce outages amid peak demand.
The previous rate increase happened in July 2025.
