Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – APD homicide detectives have made an arrest in connection with the early Tuesday morning stabbing death at an apartment on Eubank.
23-year old Colin Bilagody is in custody for the murder of 23-year old Tyren Begay.
Bilagody is charged with an open count of murder, tampering with evidence in a homicide and remains a the Metro Detention Center without bond.
According to police, Bilagody and Begay, were drinking alcohol with Begay’s girlfriend and began fighting inside the woman’s apartment and say she told police she saw Bilagody stab Begay in the chest with a large kitchen knife and that Bilagody left the apartment on foot and she went to knock on doors of her neighbors trying to get help. When police arrived they found Begay dead in the apartment.
Police then reported that Bilagody later turned himself in to police at the Northeast Substation.
Police say that Bilagody told them Begay was the initial aggressor and admitted to stabbing Begay in the chest and that he should have walked away from the fight.
