Justice was served for an Albuquerque man for kidnapping his former boss and holding him for ranson in 2018. He was sentenced this week to life in prison plus 60 months. Jose Ramirez was found guilty in December of 2025 of multiple charges including conspiracy to kidnap, kidnapping, conspiracy to carjack, carjacking, using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence and extortion. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of NM says Ramirez targeted his former employer who had fired him years earlier for theft. Ramirez kidnapped the victim from his home in Placitas then drove to a remote location where the victim was robbed, bound and beaten. After Ramirez’ attempts to get ransom money from the victim’s daughter failed, the victim was released and was able to call for help. Ramirez was able to flee NM and was finally arrested in California last year.
