Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –A new fire training academy and memorial will soon be coming to Santa Fe. The NM State Fire Marshal’s office will break ground on the facility this month. The training academy will accommodate firefighter recruits from across the state. The current academy in Socorro will continue to offer courses with the new location offering more opportunities for first responders in norther NM. The memorial garden will have the names of 43 fallen New Mexico firefighters. The memorial should be completed by December of this year and the academy is expected to be open by April of 2027.
