Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Stephen McCorkle was convicted last week for shooting and killing a man who allegedly attempted to steal from an Albuquerque gas station in November of 2024. McCorkle was working at a gas station on Lomas when he confronted two people who were allegedly in the process of stealing from the business. When confronted the suspects dropped the items and took off. According to the District Attorney, McCorkle got in his car and followed one of the suspects shooting and killing James Rendon. A jury convicted McCorkle of first-degree murder and shooting at or from a motor vehicle. A conviction of first-degree murder carries a mandatory life sentence. Sentencing will take place at a later date.
