Las Cruces, NM (KKOB) – A lawsuit filed by the New Mexico Environmental Law Center against Project Jupiter, the massive data center being built in the Santa Teresa area, argues that the development will negatively impact local soil, consume substantial water resources, and raise concerns about emissions in the area. Late Friday, a judge ruled that the lawsuit over Project Jupiter can proceed and ordered the Doña Ana County commission to provide essential documents.
According to the lawsuit, the county approved the project without thoroughly analyzing its environmental and water impacts. In the decision, the judge also acknowledged that the project could have adverse effects on the local community but did not order construction to stop and work will continue in the meantime.
