Santa Fe, NM (KKOB) – A new analysis of New Mexico’s 2025 measles outbreak, published Thursday in the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report applauds New Mexico for how it handled the situatoin.
According to the report outreach efforts during the outbreak coincided with a 55% increase in MMR – or measles, mumps and rubella – vaccine doses administered from January to September 2025, compared to the same period in 2024. Andrea Romero, state Department of Health immunization program manager said that framework can serve as a model for New Mexico’s next outbreak – and outbreaks across the U.S.
