Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — An Albuquerque middle school restorative justice program is moving its work into the spotlight. Students from Garfield STEM Magnet and Community Middle School’s Circle Keepers program will display artwork at the New Mexico Court of Appeals on March 18. The exhibit will run from noon to 1 p.m. in the court’s foyer near the UNM School of Law. The art is based on the students’ experiences facilitating communication circles meant to repair harm and de-escalate conflict. According to the school, the approach has helped lower suspension numbers and reduce violent behavior referrals over the last five years. The exhibition is being co-hosted with UNM Health Sciences.
