Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Federal officials say Camp East Montana will remain open despite reports suggesting otherwise. ICE says the facility is getting a new contractor and additional upgrades, including more on-site staffing and expanded medical services. Attorneys say leadership changes can impact conditions inside detention centers. The clarification comes after a report indicated ICE was preparing a termination letter for the facility’s contract, though no timeline was given. Rep. Veronica Escobar also revealed the center is temporarily closed due to a measles outbreak involving 14 confirmed cases.
