Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – The future of the New Mexico State Fairgrounds is still up in the air, and now one county commissioner is saying that building a new stadium for New Mexico United on land at the fairgrounds is a done deal despite no official word being made by the Governor’s office or other state and city leaders or the team.
Commissioner Adriann Barboa, held a press conference on Wednesday where she said that the soccer stadium for the United will be happening on the fairgrounds and that residents who live in the area should be included in the conversation. Former Albuquerque Mayor Marty Chavez said that commissioner Barboa is “jumping the gun” on what the final decision will be on the rede velopment of the fairgrounds area. As part of the the discussions over the future of the fairgrounds, the final public meeting will take place tomorrow from 530 p.m to 7:30p.m at the Alice K. Hoppes African American Pavilion.
