Albuquerque, NM (KKOB)–Today (FRI) Governor Lujan Grisham signed several healthcare bills into law with several state lawmakers and medical leaders in attendance. House Bill 99, the medical malpractice reform bill was at the top of the list. The Governor commended the bi-partisan efforts of legislators to get the bills to her desk. House Bill 99 will rein in skyrocketing medical malpractice claims, protect patients’ ability to seek compensation for harm and help expand the number of doctors practicing in New Mexico. House Bill 4, protects access to affordable health care for tens of thousands of New Mexicans by making insurance premiums more affordable. House Bill 306 prohibits hospitals and health systems from charging facility fees directly to patients for preventative outpatient care, outpatient vaccination and telehealth services. And SB 101 repeals the sunset clause in the Health Care Delivery and Access Act ensuring continued financial support for eligible hospitals that care for Medicaid members.
