Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –On Thursday, NM Attorney General Raul Torrez joined a group of two dozen attorneys general in a lawsuit challenging the legality of a new 10% global tariff the Trump administration recently imposed on most products entering the U.S. The AG’s argue that Trump’s new tax on imports improperly relies on Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974 as a legal basis and is a naked attempt to sidestep a U.S. Supreme Court ruling last month, that invalidated a previous set of tariffs imposed by the administration. Torrez said in a statement, “Once again, President Donald Trump is attempting to impose sweeping tariffs without the authority granted to him under the law.” Democratic attorney generals from Oregon, New York, California and Arizona are leading the lawsuit.
