Albuquerque, NM(KKOB)– Most Republicans on Capitol Hill seem to be in favor of the armed U.S actions against Iran, including the Republican Party of NM. Meanwhile, the vast majority of Democrats in the House and the Senate are demanding a vote to stop the President’s orders which they call an illegal act since it did not have authorization by Congress.
The members of New Mexico’s congressional delegation and the Republican Party here, responded to the U.S. strikes on Iran Saturday morning.
The NM Republican Party sent the following statement:
RPNM Chairwoman Amy Barela stated, “As this situation progresses in the Middle East, I pray for the safety and well-being of our military service members, our leaders, and all those who deserve to see justice in Iran,”
“Because of the swift actions by President Trump, Operation Epic Fury makes the world, the United States, and New Mexico much safer as it ensures Iran will never obtain a nuclear weapon. I hope all leaders in New Mexico support this action by the Trump administration and see it for what it is: a necessary step to creating peace across the globe.”
Meanwhile, the entire New Mexico congressional delegation is calling the President’s decision to attack Iran, illegal.

“Since taking office, President Trump has repeatedly lied to and defied the American people by launching unauthorized, illegal military attacks. This morning’s irresponsible strikes are no different.”
“The terror the Iranian regime has inflicted across the Middle East has been a destabilizing force for decades. But we must also be clear-eyed about the consequences of needless escalation. Another war in the region puts American troops in danger and risks drawing the United States into a prolonged conflict.”
“Congressional Republicans have blocked Congress from upholding its constitutional role and have denied the American people answers about President Trump’s illegal military actions, allowing the administration to act without oversight or accountability.”
“Americans have made it clear they do not want to be dragged into another war by this President. In the buildup to this attack, President Trump has neither been straight with the American people nor presented a clear plan on what the Administration hopes to achieve by launching this illegal attack.”
