Las Cruces, NM(KKOB) – One man is dead, a woman is in the hospital and two others are in custody after a friendly social gathering turned violent at a home on the 8900 block of Ivory Wing Ln which is off U.S Highway 70 just east of Las Cruces.
The Doña Ana Sheriff’s Office and Doña Ana County Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to the home for reports of a shooting just after 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
According to deputies, several acquaintances had gathered at the home when an argument broke out between two individuals. The disagreement escalated and during the altercation, a knife and firearm were used.
As a result, a 37-year-old man died at the scene and a 41-year-old woman was airlifted to a local hospital with serious injuries. Her current condition is unknown.
DASO reports that two suspects were identified and arrested. There are no outstanding suspects and the investigation remains ongoing.
