Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Today McKinley County District Attorney Bernadine Martin submitted her resignation. The move comes after months of efforts to oust her from the publicly elected role. Martin was expected to go to trial in the New Mexico Supreme Court regarding her position. The state Supreme Court oversaw a petition to remove Martin from her role as DA in September. She faced public scrutiny due to her low prosecution rates, despite the caseload going into the Eleventh Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Martin was accused of practicing private law during her DA tenure.
