Albuquerque, NM(KKOB) – A new naming rights agreement has been announced by the University of New Mexico. UNM has entered into a 10 year partnership with Nusenda Credit Union to rename UNM’s arena to “The Pit – Powered by Nusenda.” The $17.4 million agreement has an average value of $1.74 million dollars per year and is now subject to approval from UNM’s Board of Regents.
“Nusenda and the University of New Mexico has had a 40-year partnership,” Nusenda President and CEO Michelle Dearholt, a UNM graduate and Albuquerque native, told our news partners, the Albuquerque Journal, in an interview prior the public announcement. “For us, this is a deepening of the partnership. There’s no better partner, in my opinion, to do this because we’ve already been with them down this road for 40 years. That’s number one.
According to the sponsorship agreement the Journal reports, there will be signage on the exterior of the arena, in addition to the signage already inside. Nusenda’s previous six-figure annual agreement with UNM Athletics allows the credit union logo to be on Bob King Court but does not include any other facilities, like University Stadium which already has a Nusenda sponsorship as does Aggie Memorial Stadium at NMSU,
The deal, will begin with the start of the 2026-27 Lobo men’s and women’s basketball seasons,
