Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –It’s been five years since the Soldier’s Monument in Santa Fe’s Plaza was torn down with no decision on its future. Santa Fe’s new mayor, Michael Garcia plans to hold a special city council meeting today to discuss the monument’s fate. Garcia says a decision on the monument will come soon on whether to rebuild, replace it or move it to a different location. The monument was dismantled on Indigenous Peoples’ day in 2020 with protestors arguing it memorializes violence against Native Americans. The meeting today is scheduled for 4pm at Santa Fe’s City Hall.
