Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — A plan to bring ShotSpotter gunshot detection sensors to Santa Fe is moving ahead after a City Council committee approved the proposed contract. The technology would cover roughly five square miles, including downtown and a major stretch of Cerrillos Road, with a one-year pilot costing $354,000 in state grant funding. Some councilors questioned the effectiveness of ShotSpotter and whether it aligns with youth-violence intervention funding, while others said it could provide better data on gunfire in the city. The full council will vote on the contract on February 25.
