Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Nearly a year after a deadly confrontation in an Old Town parking lot, APD has arrested the third and final teenager accused in the case.
A 17-year-old is now in juvenile detention after Albuquerque Police arrested him Thursday in connection with a deadly shooting last May. Investigators say the teen, identified as Johnathan Gurrola, is the last of three suspects accused in the killing of 19-year-old Luis Ortiz during a planned meet-up to buy alcohol near Old Town. According to police, a confrontation broke out in a Rio Grande Boulevard parking lot, where ShotSpotter picked up 10 gunshots before Ortiz crashed into a wall. Minutes later, detectives say the suspects went back to Ortiz’s truck, taking a firearm and liquor, and another gunshot was recorded. Gurrola, along with Heriberto Hernandez and his cousin, Brayan Gurrola, now faces murder and armed robbery charges.
