LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Jury selection is set to begin this morning for Nathan Rivas, the second of four suspects to go to trial in connection with the deadly 2025 shooting at Young Park.
Rivas is the brother of 21‑year‑old Tomas Rivas, who was found guilty on Monday of three counts of murder related to the same case.
Both brothers, along with co-defendants Gustavo Dominguez and Josiah Ontiveros, were arrested following the March 21, 2025 shooting that erupted during an unsanctioned car meet. The gunfire killed three people and injured 15 others.
All four suspects were charged with three counts of first‑degree murder in the deaths of 16‑year‑old AJ Madrid, 18‑year‑old Jason Gomez, and 19‑year‑old Dominick Estrada.
Nathan Rivas’ trial is expected to begin once a jury is seated.
