Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Construction on a new water treatment plant in Las Vegas, New Mexico is set to begin this summer. Officials say the plant will help resolve ongoing water infrastructure issues that began after the 2022 Hermits Peak–Calf Canyon Fire. Debris from the burn scar repeatedly clogged the current system and caused multiple shutdowns. The upgraded facility is designed to produce 3.56 million gallons of treated water per day, nearly doubling the city’s supply and supporting its population of 14,880.
