Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –The State of New Mexico’s Epstein Truth Commission held its first meeting today at the Roundhouse. However, the meeting only lasted about fifteen minutes. The Commission is tasked with evaluating if local and state officials properly investigated allegations of criminal activity and consider legislative actions to protect children and vulnerable groups. The Commission has the authority to conduct hearings and issue subpoenas, Additionally, they will review New Mexico’s statute of limitations for childhood sexual assault survivors, and examine the state’s sex offender registry laws for potential gaps. The Commission must report its findings and recommendations to the House by the end of 2026.
