Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The Very Large Array is hoping a “Next Generation Learning Center” will encourage students New Mexico and around the world to be inspired by science. VLA’s Public Information Officer Corrina Jaramillo Feldman says the premier radio instrument in the world is utilized by scientists from over 70 countries worldwide. The facility seeks to match that at the STEM education level. The center will also have apprenticeships in diesel mechanics, HVAC, electrical trades, and fiber technology. Feldman says they look to serve up to 10,000 New Mexico students each year, with interactive exhibits, classrooms, and rooftop viewing areas to overlook the famous field of radio telescopes.
