Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –Relief is coming for an overcrowded animal shelter in Sandoval county. County commissioners recently approved a contract for the construction of a new animal resource center. The plans include two buildings, one for animal services including exam rooms and offices with the other building holding 60 kennels. The county’s current shelter can only serve 21 animals at a time. The county approved $8.7 million for the construction and the new center, near I-25 and Highway 550, is expected to be open by the beginning of 2027.
