Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – The Albuquerque City Council has once again rejected proposed limits on short-term rentals like Airbnb’s.
The measure failed on a 5–4 vote Monday night. It originally called for a 330-foot buffer between short-term rentals but was amended to 100 feet before the final vote. Sponsors argued the bill would help address the city’s housing shortage and reduce rental density in neighborhoods. Councilor Nicole Rogers said parts of her district in Nob Hill have seen clusters of short-term rentals change the makeup of residential blocks. Opponents, including several local renters, said the proposal would restrict their income options and reduce tourism dollars. Similar measures were voted down in 2023 and 2024.
