Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The Veterans Integration Center in Albuquerque has been granted 100% property-tax-exempt status, saving the nonprofit roughly $55,000 over the next two years. Bernalillo County Assessor Damian Lara says the savings will support expanded services for homeless veterans, including transitional housing, counseling, and a food pantry. The assessor also added 182 fully disabled veterans to the county’s exemption rolls after verifying their eligibility. In all, more than 25,000 veterans in the county receive some type of property-tax exemption.
