Santa Fe, NM (KKOB)- Live streaming will be allowed in the trial of the state of New Mexico against digital giant Meta. A judge rejected the request by Meta to bar live streaming in the trial which begins next week up in Santa Fe.
The lawsuit filed by the state, alleges that the design of Instagram and Facebook has resulted in minors having access to child sexual abuse materials and child predator accounts which violates New Mexico’s Unfair Practices Act.
The lawsuit, filed against Meta and CEO Mark Zuckerberg in 2023, claims that the two social media platforms failed to protect children from sexual abuse, online solicitation and human trafficking.
Jury selection begins Monday in the 1st Judicial District Court in Santa Fe.
