Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – The Albuquerque City Council voted against a new rental ordinance during Wednesday nights meeting
The ordinance would have required full up-front disclosure of rent and fees in all rental listings and would have put a limit of $50 for application fees.
The final vote was 5 to 4 against the ordinance. Those opposed said that the state should be the one enforcing these rules since it passed Senate Bill 267 last year which is supposed to add protections for tenants and landlords into the city’s code.
“I am profoundly disappointed that this body chose not to stand with Albuquerque renters tonight,” said Councilor Nichole Rogers.
