Albuquerque, N.M. — Actor and director Timothy Busfield is scheduled to return to court tomorrow as a judge considers whether he will remain in custody while facing child sex abuse charges.
Busfield was taken into custody last week after turning himself in on charges that include criminal sexual contact of a minor and child abuse, tied to allegations involving child actors on the set of “The Cleaning Lady,” filmed in Albuquerque.
During his initial appearance, prosecutors asked the court to keep Busfield detained, citing what they described as a long history of alleged misconduct and new allegations that surfaced after his arrest. A judge ordered him held without bond until a follow‑up hearing could be scheduled. That detention hearing is now expected to take place Tuesday.
Busfield denies the accusations. His attorneys say he plans to fight the charges and argue an independent investigation found no corroborating evidence of wrongdoing.
Tomorrow’s hearing will determine whether Busfield remains in custody as the case moves forward.
