Gallup, NM (KKOB) – A Gallup man is in custody after police say he stabbed a Gallup police officer during an arrest.
Forty-year-old Fernando Trujillo was taken into custody by Sergeant Matthew Graham after an incident at the Big 5 Sporting Goods store. During the arrest, investigators say Trujillo stabbed the officer.
Graham was taken to the hospital and is now recovering at home. Police later learned a woman had also been attacked by Trujillo at another location. She told officers he tried to grab her and she escaped after being struck in the face.
Trujillo is charged with aggravated battery on a peace officer with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
