Santa Fe, NM (KKOB) – Santa Fe police have arrested a 39-year old Santa Fe man in connection with a murder that happened early Thursday morning. Just before 2:30 a.m., police were called to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center about a man who had arrived at the hospital with a stab wound, he later died at the hospital.
Police say 39-year old Charles Valdez of Raton, had been in an altercation at the 1100 block of Siler Road. Police reports indicate that Valdez and another man identified as Luis Arturo Lugo Ortega got into an argument over a vehicle that Lugo Ortega says Valdez had burglarized. After interviews, police say that Lugo Ortega admitted to stabbing Valdez during the fight.
He remains in jail in the Santa Fe Detention Center without bond with a charge of first degree murder.
