Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –The 30 day legislative session begins on January 20th and one state lawmaker has pre-filed a bill that would prohibit the banning of books at public libraries. The bill would also require libraries to create a procedure for people to contest materials considered inappropriate, illegal or inconsistent with the library’s mission. Libraries must not retaliate against their staff and failure to adhere to state laws will result in the loss of state funding.
