Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – One man and a woman died in two separate traffic crashes Friday night and early Saturday morning.
An as of yet unidentified woman, died early this morning in a fatal crash in the area of I-25 and San Mateo Blvd.
Around 3 a.m. Saturday, APD officers answered a call to a single vehicle crash on the I-25 South off-ramp to San Mateo Blvd. Through the investigation, it was discovered that a 2016 Mercedes GLC 300 was exiting I-25 South on the off-ramp to San Mateo. Police reports indicate that that the vehicle was traveling too fast for the turn. The car went off the ramp and landed in the open area north and below the off-ramp. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Earlier Friday night, officers witnessed a two-vehicle crash around 9:42 p.m. at Central Ave. and Juan Tabo Blvd., N.E. One man driving east in the westbound lanes of Central Ave. crashed head-on into a pickup that was at the stoplight at Juan Tabo traveling west on Central. The wrong way driver was killed instantly in the crash.
According to police, other vehicles in the westbound lanes attempted to signal to the wrong way driver by flashing their lights, to no avail. No other details were provided and the crash is currently under investigation.
