Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –A prescribed burn is planned for the Red Canyon Campground fire piles on the Mountainair Ranger District as early as tomorrow. If weather conditions allow the burn will continue as a multi-day operation. Cooler temps and relative humidity are creating suitable conditions for burning woody debris from earlier forest restoration work. The planned burn will cover 49 acres of piles in the Hazard Tree Mitigation Project located adjacent to the Upper Red Canyon Campground in the Manzano Mountains. Residents may experience smoke in the area during the prescribed burn.
