ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO – Albuquerque is preparing for its first significant winter storm of the season. A cold front will move in Wednesday night, bringing rain that’s expected to turn into snow by Thursday evening. Forecasters say the metro could see up to two inches of accumulation, while higher elevations may receive much more.
The system follows a mild start to the week and will drop temperatures sharply as it moves through. Snow showers may linger into Friday morning, and gusty winds could create slick roads and travel delays before conditions improve later in the day.
Mountain areas are likely to see the heaviest snowfall, while the city should expect light accumulation. The storm is forecast to clear by Friday afternoon, leaving colder temperatures behind heading into the weekend.
