Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – 36 year old Jason Baca of Albuquerque has been federally charged after he allegedly pointed a gun at BCSO deputies during a traffic stop. During the incident it escalated into a shooting. On Nov. 12th, deputies pulled over a vehicle near Central Avenue and Wisconsin Street, they saw Baca, who was a passenger in the car, concealing a gun. Baca resisted arrest, fled on foot, and pointed the gun towards pursuing deputies, resulting in the deputies firing their weapons. Baca was hit by the gunfire, taken into custody, and taken to get medical treatment.
As a previously convicted felon, Baca is not allowed to possess a firearm and ammunition.
He faces a sentence of up to life in prison if convicted of his current charges.
