Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) – Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man killed in a deputy-involved shooting Tuesday, December 16th in southeast Albuquerque as 42-year-old Marc Dutch.
At approximately 6:05 p.m., BCSO deputies working a proactive auto theft detail as part of Operation Triple Beam tried to make a traffic stop on a motorcycle in the 300 block of Virginia Street NE. During the encounter, the rider fled on foot. Deputies established a perimeter with assistance from the sheriff’s office Metro One Air Unit, which maintained visual contact and provided updates to deputies on the ground.
A short time later, deputies reengaged Dutch near the 300 block of Wisconsin Street NE. During that encounter, is when the deputy involved shooting occurred. The individual was pronounced dead on the scene. No deputies were injured.
Dutch had a significant criminal history. Court records reflect felony cases that include two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, embezzlement of a motor vehicle, burglary, and a felon in possession of a firearm case.
Sheriff John Allen stated, “Our deputies are out every day and night working proactive enforcement in the areas that need it most. When you have repeat offenders with violent histories continuing to cycle through our system, the risks for our community and our deputies are real. This is exactly why we stay proactive and why we do this work.”
Sheriff’s spokesperson Jayme Gonzales, says the incident remains under investigation by the Multi-Agency Task Force. As News Radio KKOB has previously reported, Operation Triple Beam is a partnered enforcement effort through the U.S. Marshals Service, and the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.
