Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) –As part of Bernalillo county’s “BernCo Builds” Communities initiative the county celebrated the opening of Ponderosa Place this week. The facility expands opportunities to move unhoused families into housing. A former Comfort Inn located at 411 McKnight NW was purchased by the county and converted into long-term housing. The purchase was made possible by the NM Legislature and Governor Grisham’s allocation this year of more than $110 million for housing and homelessness. Currently, Ponderosa Place has 74 residential clients with the capacity to serve 300 individuals at one time.
