SANTA FE — New Mexico is rolling out a new public awareness campaign aimed at encouraging parents to pay child support. The Health Care Authority’s Child Support Services Division (CSSD) launched the “Do the Loving Thing” campaign this month, featuring television and radio ads in English and Spanish.
The ads will run for 12 months through the New Mexico Broadcasters Association’s Public Education Program. Officials say last year the state collected $119 million in child support, with 65% of payments coming through wage withholding — the most reliable method for meeting monthly obligations.
The campaign comes as the state continues modernization efforts, including adjusting court orders based on ability to pay, reducing retroactive arrears, and offering job assistance through the STEPUp! program.
Parents can make payments online at YES.NM.GOV or call the HCA Customer Service Center at 1-800-283-4465, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
